INTRODUCTION
	We are pleased to present the first ever Green Map of Metropolitan Manila -National Capital Region (MMR-NCR), Philippines which is part of the world renowned Green Map System (Green Map). The Green Map System is a local-global collaboration that uses an adaptable framework to map, document and chart the dynamics, network and interactions between and among the natura lenvironment, the built environment and human beings within a specified urban area for use by any individual, organization or agency.
A Green Map has been developed for MMR-NCR, which utilizes the globally designed green site icons (over 120 icons) to identify various sites of environmental, natural, cultural, historic, and outdoor interests, as well as sites of environmental/ cultural concern. Developing the Green Map for MMR-NCR is important because it is composed of 12 cities and five (5) municipalities occupying an area of 636 square kilometers. It has a current population of over 10 million people and is one of the 15 most populous/dense urban areas in the world. By highlighting the green areas of Metro Manila , we hope to generate some personal involvement in urban renewal. We hope you can be part of this project that encourages discovery of nature, builds respect for special areas in your community, helps you develop a sense of place and belonging, promotes community pride, and helps initiate urban sustainability projects.
